These games/activites usually create a lot of laughter during the session, but if one is not working for you, don't waste time trying to make it work.
Move onto something else, otherwise you will loose them and loose control of your practice.

COACHES PLEASE REMEMBER TO GIVE YOUR PLAYERS PLENTY OF WATER BREAKS, ESPECIALLY ON HOT & HUMID DAYS

I would like to Thank Hugh McCracken for creating the Graphic Images for the U6 Activities
Thanks & Keep up the good work Hugh!
I Can Do This, Can You?- Move all the players into an area you have marked off with cones without their balls
- Then stand on one leg and spread out your arms like a bird and then ask them if they can do it without falling over
- Make sure they are spread out so they cannot touch hands
- Have them show you
- Then hop over to the other leg without falling over and ask them to do the same and keep their balance on that leg
- Now Jump around on one leg, and have them show you they can do it without bumping into other players
- Now hop over to the other leg and repeat
What Can You Do?
- The art is getting the children to think for themselves, and having them use their creativity (again without the ball)
- Ask a general question to the team, asking if one of the players can show you something that everyone can do
- Pick one of the children who volunteers and then say
- Wow Mary...that was great! Can you do it again so every can see what you did
- Have everyone try it
- That was great, can someone else show us something else that we can all do
- Depending on how many children you have, you can have them all take turns showing you something.
I Can Do This With The Ball Can You?
- Now you can start to introduce the ball
- Bounce the ball on the ground and catch it with both hands, then ask the players if they can do it
- Great Job Team! I can throw the ball in the air and catch it with two hands while I stand still, Can You?
- That was awesome... Now say; "The next one is really hard"
- Now throw the ball in the air while moving forward, then ask them if they can do it.
- Have them try it
- WOW... You made that look easy GREAT JOB!
What Can You Do With the Ball?
- Continued from "I Can Do This With The Ball Can You"
- Again this allows your players to use their creativity in showing you something that they can all do with the ball
- Remember to allow everyone to be involved in showing you something and congratulate them on completion
Red Light, Green Light
- The Children absolutely LOVE this game
- Set up an area with cones/discs that the children will start at and finish at
- Ask them what the GREEN light means
- Ask them what the YELLOW light means
- Ask them what the RED light means
- Start without the Ball
- Say "RED" See if any of the players move (they usually start giggling)
- Say "GREEN"
- Say "RED"
- If they don't stop tell them they should check their brakes
- Say "YELLOW"
- Say "GREEN" make sure to tell them they should all stop when they get to the finish line
- Once they are used to it; have them all get their ball and go to the starting line
- Repeat the process in whichever order you want (mix it up)
- After you have tried this once or twice tell them that if they do not stop the ball, they must go back to the starting line and start over
Simon Say's
- Simon say's is one the favorite games that has been around for years and years. This will improve your players listening skills and improve their concentration.
- Explain the game rules: When "Simon Say's" something you should do it, but when something is said without the words "Simon Say's" you must not do it.
- Without using the Ball
- If you do something without "Simon Say's" the player must stand like a statue until "Simon Say's" to Move
- When using the Ball
- If a player does something without the words "Simon Say's" then they must dribble the ball outside the coned area and back in and continue to join in the game
- Make sure the children are spread out so they cannot touch each other, and start the game
- Without the Ball
- "Simon Say's" Move Forward
- "Simon Say's" Move Backward
- Touch your toes
- Whoops who touched their toes...Simon didn't say Touch your Toes
- Those that touched their toes stand like a statue
- "Simon Say's" Jump up and down
- Everyone should join in again
- Continue with different moves
- With the Ball
- Dribble the Ball
- Whoops; who started dribbling
- Ask them what they have to do and then have them dribble the ball out of the coned area and back in
- "Simon Say's" Dribble the ball and change Directions
- "Simon Say's" STOP
- "Simon Say's" Do Toe Touches (Tap the top of the ball with their foot, alternate feet)
